ToggleEntry-level vivo Y18 4G debuts in India with "segment's brightest screen", IP54 rating
Vivo Y18 4G
Previously pricey features have gradually made their way down to mid-range and even entry-level handsets, as evidenced by the new vivo Y18 4G. The phone was secretly post on Vivo‘s Indian website with no fanfare, and it has a premium-looking back design that uses a 3D micro-sculpting method in the Gem Green edition to etch silver ripples into the rear plate. When combined with a nm scale coating, the result is a gem-like texture, as the colorway’s name implies.
There’s also the more subdued Space Black, which has a subtle ‘starry night’ appearance when seen closely. The Vivo Y18 4G also includes stereo speakers, an IP54 grade for dust and splash protection, and a 50 MP primary back camera.
It boasts a side-mounted fingerprint sensor built in the power button, as well as what vivo claims is the brightest display in the segment, reaching 840 nits in High Brightness Mode. That may not sound like much for an OLED panel, but this is an LCD, so the accomplishment is rather impressive. You also receive TUV-certified “genuine eye protection”.
The screen measures 6.56 inches and has a refresh rate of 90 Hz with a resolution of 720×1612. The phone is power by the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, which is couple with 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB of expandable storage. The selfie shooter is 8 MP, and the Y18 sports a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 15W wired charging. The phone weighs 185g and measures 163.63 x 75.58 x 8.39 mm. It runs Android 14 and is topped with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 14.
