MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9400 with a 3.63 GHz CPU

MediaTek has officially announced the Dimensity 9400, its latest flagship chipset, designed to deliver groundbreaking CPU power and enhanced graphics capabilities. Built on TSMC’s advanced 3 nm process (N3E), the SoC offers significant improvements in performance, power efficiency, and on-device AI technology, making it one of the most competitive chips in the market.

The Dimensity 9400 features a cutting-edge 1+3+4 CPU architecture. At the top is a super-performance Cortex-X925 core running at an impressive 3.63 GHz, accompanied by three Cortex-X4 cores with a 3.3 GHz clock speed. For efficiency, the chip is backed by four Cortex-A720 units clocked at 2.4 GHz. MediaTek claims this setup provides a 15% improvement in IPC (Instructions per Cycle), resulting in a 35% boost in single-core performance and a 28% gain in multi-core tasks.

The chipset’s GPU, the Immortalis-G925, operates at 1612 MHz and delivers a 41% increase in overall performance. It also offers 40% faster ray tracing and reduces power consumption by 44%. Complementing this is the NPU 890, an AI processor that consumes 35% less energy than its predecessor while supporting advanced features like corrective image filling, 100x zoom with extraordinary detail, and efficient 4K video capture at 60 fps.

MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 also introduces the Imagiq 1090 ISP, which enables HDR video capture across the full zoom range, ensuring consistent video quality even when switching between zoom levels or lenses.

The chipset is the first to support the latest 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X RAM, while also offering a 100% increase in L2 cache and 50% boost in L3 cache, further enhancing speed and efficiency.

MediaTek has already started shipping the Dimensity 9400 to OEMs. The chipset is expected to debut in the vivo X200 series this month, followed by its appearance in the Oppo Find X8 in November. This flagship platform is set to power the next generation of high-end smartphones with unparalleled performance and efficiency.
